Miscellaneous

Roses
Colors- Not much change since the last post. Basic colors are plentiful and prices have dropped slightly. Seasonal colors are priced a bit higher. There are some varieties like Playa Blanca, Amnesia, etc. that are still priced on the high side.
Reds – There is still a good supply of Reds and prices are on the low side.
Garden Roses– Check out our big promotion on Garden Roses this week. This is a great chance to check out some Garden Roses and get you and your staff familiar with them.
Basics
Laceflower- Chocolate Laceflower has become EXTREMELY limited. A nice sub is Laceflower Neopolitan. Give it a try!
Carnations and Mini Carnations– We have a good selection and availability on most colors. Fall colors are obviously in greater demand. Be aware that Burgundy Carnations and Mini Carnations are featured in some wire service specials for Thanksgiving this year. Since there is not that much production on these, they will be in extremely short supply this holiday. Get your orders in early for your best chance on getting all you need.
Lilies- White Oriental and LA lilies continue to be limited due to lower seasonal production. And 2-bloom production on all Lilies continues to be limited. Be sure to check out a great lily mix on Distinctive Values for this week.
Alstroemeria– There is good production on Alstro including Fall colors, but the Fall colors are mostly in Fancy and Select grades. Premium/Super Select Fall colors are limited.
Novelties
Anemones- Production in Chile is winding down. They are still coming from Ecuador and Holland. Note that Holland Anemones are cut very tight and need some time to develop.
Sarracenia- Our Local Sarracenia season is coming to an end. We should have them for about 2 more weeks.
Stock- California Stock will be very limited again next week. The crop has gone into heat check, and some growers have finished up their crop for the fall and wait for new fields to begin. You can expect shortages across the board in all colors except Purple from California. This year the color of choice for weddings seem to be Burgundy, Magenta and Peach. These colors will remain difficult to fill through out the fall season. We will continue to supplement our inventory with South American Stock. We have had good inventory and quality has been good, so you should try this out if you need Stock.
Heather- We were able to find a little California Heather for this week. Going forward we are not sure what this season will bring. One of the largest growers of Heather closed their doors recently. Most other suppliers bought from this source and redistributed it. We will continue to try to procure this popular item and see what can be done.
Snapdragons- Production of Snaps in California has decreased but so has demand. Canadian production is also down, so all growers are increasing prices.
Larkspur- California Larkspur is coming to an end quickly. This is normal. Be on the lookout for some Larkspur from South America as it becomes available.
Gerpoms/Gerrondo- You can now get Gerpoms, also known as Gerrondo Gerbera, through DV Grower Direct. Just search for “gerpom”.
Supplies
Gourmet- Time to start stocking up on Gourmet for the holiday. All gourmet items are on sale now through November 4th.
German Statice- We have 5 lb boxes of German Statice in stock now. This item has been difficult to procure in recent years so we are glad to have it available.
