Schedule Notes
Independence Day- We will not have a Florida plant truck arriving on 7/1. If you have any special foliage needs for the week of July 4, be sure to order by 6/17 to make sure we can get what you need.
Watch for more detailed information in the next week or so about our holiday schedule and any service changes that might affect you.
Summer Celebration– Watch your mail and your inbox the last week of June for a flyer on this popular program. It’s a great way to get some great deals, and also get chances to win prizes.
Roses
There is srtill no relief in the rose market. In fact, it’s getting a little worse. Production is horrible and roses are more limited than they’ve been all season.
Colors– These are extremely limited and very high priced. The most popular varieties; mother of pearl, esther, sweet eskimo, playa blanca etc. will be scarce once we sell through our standing orders. We are trying to get as much as we can.
Reds– Prices are still fair and availability is decent.
Garden Roses– Demand is very high but we’ve been able to cover most orders. We’ve also extended the great promo on White Patience. Make sure you ask your sales rep and try this awesome rose.
Spray Roses– Price are still high and there is very little product in the market. White, pink and peach are the hardest to find.
Novelties
Stock– The supply has improved with the exception of peach and white. The demand for peach is high but the supply is not. We will have trouble meeting the demand for peach in the weeks to come. We may also see shortages in white. The prices have not come down and remain high.
Larkspur– Availability is winding down but the demand does not seem to be what we would expect. However white continues to be a problem as demand exceeds availability. We expect shortages in white again next week.
Delph– There is a good supply of blue delphinium but demand is very high. It is possible we will see shortages on some items. Hybrid white delph is limited due to excessive demand this time of year. Growers grower ask us to take an equal amount of all colored hybrid delph to go with the white, so please try to take some other colors if you need the white.
Dendrobium– White continue to be in short supply, which is typical this time of year.
Cymbidiums– Mini cymbids from Holland are finished. They are now coming from New Zealand. Standard cymbids are starting to transition too.
Peonies– The local season is in full swing but will wind down soon. We will have great deals on a few varieties from Holland for next week.
Local Items– We are starting to see more local items- Dill, Nigella Pods, Echinacea Cone Flower, Oats, Millet and more. Try searching dvflora for local to see all that’s available. A few items are already finishing- Alchimella, Baptisia, and Blue and White Nigella.
Sunflowers– Demand is picking up. We are bringing in more of the DVFlora brand and California suns. We are also bringing in some from Peru that we have gotten good feedback New Jersey Suns are starting up so we will have Local sunflowers beginning next week.
Starting Up– Calycinia, Blushing Bride and Riceflower are coming online. See all of our new arrivals under a separate post here!
Basics
Gyp- This will continue to be difficult to source through July. Farms are cutting our orders each week. We will most likely not have enough to cover demand for the next 3 weeks.
Mini Carns– Production is even lower than the past couple of weeks. Be sure to prebook any special need early.
Carnations– Availability is starting to improve slightly, but pricing and availability probably won’t return to normal until early July.
Chrysanthemums– These are an item that is planted based on anticipated demand. Farms can cut back production as needed and it looks as though most farm have done so. Disbud varieties in Lavender, pink, purple and white that were available for most of the Spring will be limited in availability in the upcoming weeks. Lavender Football mums are EXTREMLY difficult to find.
Pomps– Production levels look like they will be good as we head into the summer. Availability and pricing should be much better beginning after July 4th.
Hard Goods
Closeout Sales– We are starting to make room in our warehouse for the Fall and Christmas items that will begin to arrive in August. Over the next few weeks e will be running a series of closeout sales. Most of the items will be available in small quantities and priced to sell, so if you see something you like order it right away. Visit www.dvflora.com and click on Supplies –> Specials to see the current flyers.
Mache Containers– We are still looking to find a new supplier for mache funeral containers but have not been successful so far. Meanwhile we have alternative items you can start using if you haven’t already switched.
