The Gymea Flower

We won’t be surprised if your initial reaction to the Gymea Flower is ‘What the heck is that?!’

For about 6 weeks every year the Gymea flowers.

You might be familiar with the Gymea leaves which ship all year round and are up to 6ft long. The flower, when it does bloom, is even more impressive!

The stem is anywhere from 6 to 18ft (though due to box limitation, the supplier only ships at approximately 6ft) and the flower itself is the size of a football before it opens. It is similar to a lily in that the different florets open at different time. Generally it take 4 weeks to fully open.

As you can see in the photo below, Corey from Premium Greens (Australia) is over 6ft tall, and the flower almost matches his height!
