Weather and Market conditions in South America

By June 18, 2010No Comments

From our DV team member down in Colombia. “We continue with very cold, overcast and rainy days. The rainfall is mainly during the early morning and late afternoon. The rain is causing lower production on most farms, mainly on roses, carnations and mini-carnations”. <Checkout some photos from Columbia>. The market is still tight on many in-demand and basic type of items. The primary product shortages are in roses, carnations, mini carnations, and Pom Pons. The recent weather has only added to an already difficult situation for farms, imports, brokers and wholesalers.

The USDA has many rolls and one is gathering data on imports to the USA. Below you will find some recent statistics on some key product lines. In light of the major shortages, the purchasing team at Delaware Valley has been searching every source possible in an effort to provide it customers the products they need.
